The Slave
Power is not violence in all the forms deployed by the dominant to control the dominated, but consent in all the forms in which the dominated acquiesce in their own domination.
Maurice Godelier
That quote has always stuck with me when I think about the slave. It is all about the level in which one wants to be dominated don't you think?. The slave is not just a person.. but a level of understanding, a level of commitment. People confuse the terms submissive and slave.... some say they are the same thing.. the term being a matter of semantics. I disagree with this theory. The slave is a person who has found the deepest level of devotion to service. So deep that all that they do is based upon this devotion to service first then to the Owner, Master or Mistress. Do slaves have limits... yes they do... As does anyone else living in this world. There are some things that we just won't or can't do. And for each person the limits vary. And this is okay, it does not take away from their dedication to service.
The slave is a thing of beauty, like that of a fine poem or a freshly blossomed flower. And yet not a flower or a poem, all that they do flows with grace and leaves a sweet scent in the minds of others. They are self motivated, thinkers, doers. They do not wait to be told to do something they see that needs to be done, they simply do it. And of course they abide by the wishes of their owners and owner's requests. The slave learns to anticipate their owner's needs and desires, paying close attention to habits and or routines. The slave does not function from the premise that if they do xyz they will get a reward for it (reward being a scene, pat on the back etc..). They do xyz because, the reward is in doing, it is who they are. The slave is a person, male or female, with the great gift of giving. It is what makes them the happiest. They are not doormats, the front door swings both ways and they know how to use it. With that said, I can imagine that many are thinking that if the slave can leave anytime they want to then the owner doesn't really own them. Well considering the laws currently in place this is true.. there is no legal recourse to take to keep a slave today. The slave is a person, a human being... a dog will leave if you mistreat it enough. I refer you back to the quote on top. Power is not violence in all the forms deployed by the dominant to control the dominated, but consent in all the forms the dominated acquiesce in their own domination. We must remember that slaves have feelings and deserve respect for who they are and all that they give.
